  • Traveling and hiking in the highlands
This July I have been on vacation. It has been a very quiet and calm. Our family took off to a summer hut with friends and made some fun trips in the highlands with them. We hiked up to the mountain Sveinstindur, which is over 1000 meters high and gives a great view to faraway places.

Last weekend me and my husband and the kids took a walk from our own hut. The hike took us about 5 hours. The weather was good at first and the view magnificent. We could see Reykjavik city and mount Esja. Our target, Móskarðshnjúkar, seemed to be far off. Me and my doughter waited in the slopes while the guys conquered the peak. Watching them was great fun. At the top we could see them against the sky. At the way down they ran down the rocks, forming two lines all the way down. A part of the way back is through a swamp and it had started to rain so when we reached the hut our clothes ware soaking wet. After all this walking we ware both tired and hungry.

Our family car broke down in May and it took us two months getting it fixed so I have had little chance of visiting relatives. But now it is finally working, making it possible to take short trips.

In Art Thinking I tell you about mount Þríhyrningur which is a mountain I grew up with. I intend to look at the mountain from all angles and explore the way it will change. Then I intend on painting it from all sides and if I become happy with the results I plan on holding a special exhibition. Mountains are great, they show different faces just like people.

  • Icelandic Art Life

A new section about  Icelandic Art Life is now on-line. In that section we plan on giving you great information about current art events in Iceland. We have already added two articles that you might find interesting.

Reykjavik Cultural Night was held at Saturday 21st of August. This is the ninth official Cultural Night in Reykjavík. The events are spectacular as usual. Events take place on the streets, in churches, banks, cultural institutions and even homes.

Gay Pride Iceland is celebrated in Reykjavík like many other cities in the world. This years festival took place Saturday August 7th. It is estimated that a little less than 40.000 people showed up in Reykjavík centre, to celebrate with gay's and to show sympathy and support.

  • Kid Art

A new section about  Kid Art is also now on-line. In that section Álfheiður gives some great ideas about art project that are intended for kids. It is just amazing how kids manage to make beautiful pictures, often they are true works of art like you can see done by prestigious artists. Kids are fun to be with and listen to. Often making stories and they can easily be led on in their joy of telling a story.

  • Blue Lagoon Iceland

Blue Lagoon Iceland is truly a one-of-a-kind. Situated in the middle of a large lava field and created by geothermal seawater. The hot water comes from holes as deep as 2000 meters/6000 feet and is used to fill the natural spa with warm and comfortable water but is also used for powering the nearby natural energy station. We decided to take the day off and just enjoy the nice and refreshing place.

  • A new order page

As we are building more traffic to the website we have put up a simple order page. There you can fill out the necessary information we need to process your order in the best way we can. The cost of sending art work depends on quite a few factors. One is the weight of the package and another is the volume. Then there is your destination country. Therefore we calculate each order according to these factors. Handling of credit cards will be ready as soon as we have put up the final shopping cart software. In the mean time we will phone you to get the credit card details.

Check out the new Order Art page.

  • Starting a website!

Starting a new website is a dream of many but only a handful take the step.
We find that using the detailed steps we got from reading an e-book from SiteSell gives us a great plan to follow.
The method is basically simple:
C - Build Content - ranking high at search engines.
T - Receive Traffic - interested in your message.
P - PREsell - by OVERdelivering content.
M - Monetize - in a variety of ways.

Check it out at http://buildit.sitesell.com/thrandur.html
or read about the e-book and get download instructions at http://art-iceland.com/affiliatemasters.html
