An influential and vocal painter

Kjartan Guđjónsson is considered one of the greatest artists alive in Iceland today.

Kjartan Guđjónsson at the opening of his latest exhibitionKjartan studied Art, first in Iceland, then at the Art Institute of Chicago and later at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Florens.

Kjartan has been influential in the Icelandic art world for over half a century! He was one of the painters known as the "September group" that did their first exhibition together in 1947.

Kjartan was a teacher for more than 25 years at the Reykjavík School of Art and Craft. 

Kjartan Guđjónsson has held numerous exhibitions, both solo and along with others. He is also well known for his work at design and decoration.

Even though his years are adding up Kjartan is still an active and creative painter.
